Uses for the Online Application
Through a partnership between the N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles (NCDMV) and the State Board of Elections, if you are an existing DMV customer with a DMV-issued driver’s license or ID, you may register to vote or change parts of your registration with the online voter registration application.
You may use the online voter registration application to:
- Update your voter registration address.
- Update your party affiliation.
You may not use the online voter registration application to change your name. You are not required to complete a DMV transaction, such as a license renewal, at the same time. There is no fee for voter registration services. Once the online voter registration application is complete, it is sent to the State Board of Elections, which will handle your voter registration.
