In the days following each election in North Carolina, the 100 county boards of elections count provisional ballots and certain absentee ballots cast in the election, conduct post-election audits, and complete any necessary recounts. The State Board of Elections conducts additional audits to ensure an accurate count.

Voting will be extended until 8 p.m. in one precinct in Burke County and one precinct in Wilson County.

The State Board will meet at 3:30 p.m. to consider extending voting hours in one Wilson County precinct.

In the coming days, county boards of elections will hand-count selected ballots and compare results with the machine counts.

Members of the press who wish to attend the press briefing with election officials in person must RSVP.

The final chance for voters to make their voice heard is Tuesday, Election Day.

North Carolina residents: If you are a citizen of the United States, will be at least 18 years old by Election Day, and are not serving a felony sentence, you are eligible to vote.
