Karen Brinson Bell, executive director of the NC State Board of Elections, was sworn in late last week as secretary of the National Association of State Election Directors (NASED).
Brinson Bell was chosen by her peers across the country to serve in this NASED leadership position. She was sworn in as secretary during the 2023 NASED Winter Conference in Washington, D.C.
“I am honored and humbled to be chosen by fellow election directors for this role,” Brinson Bell said. “NASED helps keep us up to speed on election administration issues across the country, which in turn helps election officials and voters in North Carolina.”
The following election directors also were sworn in to NASED leadership positions: Rob Rock, Rhode Island, president; Mandi Grandjean, Ohio, incoming president; Mandy Vigil, New Mexico, vice president; Bryan Caskey, Kansas, treasurer; Meagan Wolfe, Wisconsin, immediate past president; Will Senning, Vermont, Northeast region representative; Blake Evans, Georgia, South region representative; Jonathan Brater, Michigan, Midwest region representative; Stuart Holmes, Washington, West region representative.
NASED is a nonpartisan professional organization made up of state election directors. It promotes accessible, accurate, and transparent elections in the 50 states and U.S. territories. NASED members meet twice a year to discuss the latest developments in election administration and learn from other states and experts about best practices in elections.
Brinson Bell served as NASED’s South region representative in 2022.
