- U.S. Senate
- U.S. House of Representatives
- N.C. Supreme Court Justice
- Judge of the N.C. Court of Appeals
- Superior Court judge
- District Court judge
- District attorney
- For a list of 2022 contests for the offices listed above, see here: 2022 State and Federal Contests (XLSX).
- New in 2021: Candidates filing with the State Board will file at the Exposition Center on the N.C. State Fairgrounds, located at 4285 Trinity Road, Raleigh, N.C. Candidates, guests, and members of the media should enter the Fairgrounds through Gate 9 on Trinity Road; they should exit through Gate 5 onto Youth Center Road. (See Fairgrounds map.)
- Filing begins at noon on Monday, December 6, and runs through 5 p.m. that day. On the last day of filing, December 17, filing will be open from 8 a.m. to noon. On all other business days of the filing period, candidates may file from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Only the candidate may file the notice of candidacy and pay the filing fee in person. The State and county boards of elections cannot accept candidate filings via surrogate. The boards of elections will only accept notices of candidacy that are signed and submitted in person by the candidate, or which are certified and delivered via mail or commercial courier service, per N.C.G.S. § 163-106(a). In the past, some candidates have relied on surrogates, including staff members, to submit their notices of candidacy during the candidate filing period. This practice is not permitted in the General Statutes, and such filings will not be accepted by the boards of elections going forward.
- For additional information, see: Filing for 2022 Elections Starts Monday.
For Media
- Updated Dec. 6, 2021: Members of the media should park at the Exposition Center parking lot (see map below) and enter through the main entrance for a press pass at the Press check-in station, located inside the large room beyond the lobby.
