By a unanimous vote of all members present, the newly appointed State Board of Elections on Thursday elected Bob Cordle of Charlotte as board chair and Dr. Stella Anderson of Boone as board secretary.
The Board – appointed by Gov. Roy Cooper earlier Thursday – plans to meet again next week. A public notice will be sent as soon as a date and time are finalized.
The State Board’s first priorities include setting a date for an evidentiary hearing in the 9th Congressional District investigation and appointing members to the 100 county boards of elections.
“I thank my fellow Board members for their votes of confidence,” Cordle said after the telephonic meeting. “We have important work to do and plan to get started immediately.”
Earlier Thursday, Gov. Cooper appointed Democrats Stella Anderson of Boone, Jeff Carmon III of Durham and Bob Cordle of Charlotte, and Republicans David C. Black of Concord and Ken Raymond of Winston-Salem, to the State Board.
