The North Carolina State Board of Elections and the Lee County Board of Elections will hold a public meeting, 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016, at the Old Courthouse, 1400 South Horner Blvd., Courtroom #4 in Sanford.
The meeting is to inform the public about Photo ID requirements effective as of Jan. 1, 2016.
“Working with our county board of elections’ partners, we want to educate and inform voters across the State on the new photo ID requirements and exceptions,” said Executive Director Kim Westbrook Strach. “We hope voters will come hear the message and help us spread the word.”
“This is very important to the voters of Lee County,” said Nancy Kimble, Director of the Lee County Board of Elections. “We want to ensure that voters have the correct ID and that they get as much information as they possibly can to be ready to vote.”
The meeting will also address the following:
- What types of photo ID will be accepted at the polls?
- What can voters do if they don’t have one of the listed acceptable IDs?
- Where can voters get a NC ID card?
- Is there a charge for a NC ID card?
- What information do voters need to provide to get a NC ID card?
