The deadline for a recount request to be filed with the State Board of Elections for a ballot item within its jurisdiction is noon Nov. 20, 2012. No request has been received at this time, however, so county boards of elections may make tentative plans for locations and personnel to conduct a statewide recount you are advised that if a qualified recount is requested, it will be conducted in the 100 counties on Nov. 26 and 27. In special circumstances approval from this office would be given for the recount to be conducted Nov. 28, 2012.
The statutes direct that the State Board of Elections certify election results Nov. 27. Should a recount be ordered the State Board would certify on the 27th all offices except those involved in a recount. The date for the State Board certification of any recounted offices will be set by the State Board as part of its canvass meeting.
